Good to Great BP

"The top pocket for sun glasses or almost anything else is too small. Frustrating a simple design was was overlooked. Otherwise a good all around BP."

Great backpack

"Service I store was 10/10 the lady could not have been more helpful. Backpack is exactly what I wanted and has really useful features such as side or top access for laptops, two side packets for drink bottles. The straps are comfortable especially with the crossover at the front (purchased separately) overall excellent experience and product."

Best backpack for school

"Have a petite daughter starting secondary school and needed something relatively compact, with a good back and shoulder support. This backpack is exactly it! The height of the bag provides enough internal space for all day-to-day school stuff, including stuffing a midweight jacket in if the weather gets warmer during the day. But the relatively narrow depth means the bag cannot be overfilled so to hang backwards, hurting a growing child’s back. 3 practical pockets for smaller stuff and a laptop/chromebook internal pocket that’s also accessible from a side zipper make this backpack absolutely perfect, beautiful and practical. Can’t recommend it enough!"

Is it really worth the price ££££

"Plenty of backpacks same quality on the market for less money. I would have sent it back but my son needed a backpack for school very next day after delivery so decided to keep it."

Great storage with fantastic back and shoulder support

"I just love that the bag is big enough to take more than enough of my work (laptop and docking station) and gym (clothes&sneakers) essentials. Initially, I thought it was too big for work but the first day I used, it offered a lot of support and I had no back or shoulder aches even though I carried so much stuff in it."

A Good Backpack

"I purchased this backpack as I needed a more versatile one, having owned the Herschel Pop Quiz backpack for several years. It served me well so thought I'd return to Hershel to see what they have in their current range. I wasn’t a fan of the new Pop Quiz changes because of all the changes, so I stumbled upon the Seymour backpack which ticked a lot of boxes for me. I am from the UK, and it took exactly one week to arrive via Royal Mail. The backpack is very good. The shape and size of the backpack is ideal (I was worried it might be too tall), and the overall quality is high. There are plenty of pockets and compartments for all of my things. I like the fact they added expandable water bottle pockets on each side of the backpack - something that was missing on my old Pop Quiz backpack. I also like how the small, zipped pocket at the top of the backpack is now placed on the main body of the backpack and not on the 'lid'. You can now also add a sternum strap to the shoulder straps for extra support when needed. It’s a shame that the Herschel Sternum strap was only available in pink at the time of purchasing, so ended up buying a much cheaper one on Amazon which does the trick. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and have a decent amount of padding. However, no review is a review without pointing out what I did not like about this backpack and what I would’ve loved to have seen. 1) Stash pocket Although the stash pocket at the top of the backpack is now placed in a better position for access and stability, it is no longer fleece-lined like it was on my previous Pop Quiz backpack. This means things like sunglasses and other items are more prone to get scratched if there are multiple things in there. A minor detail you could argue but the fact that my old Pop Quiz backpack had the pocket fleece-lined, suggests that it was a money-saving move to remove it. I guess a way to remedy this would be to get a cloth pouch for my sunglasses, however it takes away from the convenience of just chucking them in there and taking them out with ease. 2) Laptop sleeve Contrary to the Stash pocket, the laptop sleeve remains fleece lined. However, the application is different from my old Pop Quiz backpack. Only the inner half of the pocket is fleece lined and the side which faces your back, is the same material as the internals of the backpack. Both sides were fleece-lined on my old Pop Quiz backpack. The website states that the laptop sleeve is also padded, however the padding is only on the side that faces your back. This is a shame as my old Pop Quiz backpack had padding on both sides of the laptop sleeve, especially a decent amount on the inner portion. The inner, fleece-lined part of the laptop sleeve is also shorter than what it was on my old Pop Quiz backpack. This means the top section of my laptop is exposed, unlike in my old Pop Quiz backpack where it was completely covered and protected from scratches. I own a MacBook Pro 14” and have a Dell 13” work laptop, so any larger laptop than this, would be even more exposed. Again, like the Stash pocket, a way to remedy this would be to buy a slim laptop sleeve for extra piece of mind but takes away the convenience of just popping your laptop in and out with ease. A real shame. 3) Side entry zipper I really like the addition of the side entry zipper, in theory, it makes it easy to access your laptop without opening the main part of the backpack and shuffling stuff around to get to it. However, in practice, the actual zip is too short in length, and I end up doing a bit of gymnastics to get my 14” MacBook Pro out. I measured it and if the zip was 9cm (3. 5 inches) taller, it would’ve been so much smoother to take my laptop in and out! I’m not sure how this got through the usability testing phase, considering one of the most popular laptops available are the 14” and 16” MacBook Pros. I even struggle with my 13” Dell work laptop, so I suspect if you have a laptop larger than 14”, it will render the side entry zipper unusable. A big miss with the zip! 4) Handle The handle on my old Pop Quiz backpack was lined with leather/faux leather, which made it extra hardwearing. The handle on this backpack is just the fabric. It’s early days but it would’ve been nice if it had the same leather/faux leather lining or even the same padding as what the shoulder straps have, for longevity. The handle is also quite narrow. If the handle was wider, it would widen the weight strain when carrying, offer a more comfortable carry and better piece of mind. 5) Front storage sleeve The front storage sleeve is handy, however, because of gravity, all of my things in there sink to the bottom when I’m wearing it. This means I have to shuffle through all of my stuff in there to get what I need. If the storage sleeve was split with top and bottom compartments, it would be so much easier and it would offer better organisation. You could argue that it would take away storing large flat items in there, but in this use case, you could use the laptop sleeve and utilise the side entry zipper. The netted organiser within in the front storage sleeve is good and has a key clip which is nice. However, the netted organiser differs to what was in my old Pop Quiz backpack. In the Pop Quiz backpack, it had pen holders and other smaller pockets for extra organisation. A small thing, but it would’ve been nice to have that as an option, as if you do not use those things, those holders and pockets rest flat so the organiser can be used as normal storage. 6) Trolley sleeve The addition of a trolley sleeve to this backpack would’ve made this backpack complete. In all honesty, I think you should add this feature to ALL of your backpacks. I know it would incur an extra cost and may reduce the sales of other models, but It’s a bit of fabric attached to the back of the backpack which offers so much utility to the wearer. I’m sure if this feature was added onto all of your backpacks, no one would argue that they don’t like it on there - besides it would be hidden from sight! Overall, I really like this backpack, and I am happy with my purchase. No backpack is perfect, but this is the closest for my needs. If they miraculously make a new model with the additions/tweaks I mentioned, I will buy that in a heartbeat. Will be willing to pay the extra costs it would incur! The Seymour Pro Max hahaha! I will continue to use Herschel products as I love what they do as their stuff is quality. Keep up the good work guys!"

It arrived damaged

"The side zip had damage. Poor quality. I sent it back and it's been stuck in Netherlands customs for 5 weeks. I am helpless to do anything and feel let down by the company. Currently no timescale for this to be resolved. It would be nice if the company sent me a replacement. They are not helping me with the situation. I am currently £90 down and without my backpack."

Why not just assume that no news is good news?

"I am satisfied until I am asked to do a survery. What if you made a radical move as a company and stopped email people surveys? Maybe others would follow suit. It reeks of insecurity."
